  Internship opportunity for students- from Deep Center WRITING FELLOWSHIP JOB DESCRIPTION Deep Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free, fun, and rigorous writing workshops for public school students in Savannah, Georgia. We use creative writing, art, and culture to help young people connect their learning to their lives, and their lives to their communities. Deep’s Writing Fellows are enthusiastic, experienced writer-mentors with expertise in and a passion for creative writing, who volunteer with Deep’s Young Author Project to help Savannah’s youth tell their stories with skill and confidence. The Writing Fellows plan and lead ten to eleven writing workshops with an assigned co-Fellow, in an assigned Savannah public middle or high school. Fellows attend a two-day training session prior to the start of the program. These 90-minute workshops take place once-per-week, after-school, generally between the hours of 2:30 and 5pm

  The 2024 NPC scholarships + application links include:  SCHOLARSHIPS The   Scholarship for Journalism Diversity Honoring Julie Schoo  is a $5,000 scholarship awarded to a  high school senior . The award can be renewed for up to three years at $5,000 per year. (Deadline: Feb. 18) The   Richard G. Zimmerman Scholarship  is a one-time scholarship of $5,000 to support a  high school senior  who wishes to pursue a career in journalism. (Deadline: Feb. 18) The   Wes Vernon Broadcast Scholarship , supports diversity within broadcast journalism. The scholarship is $5,000 per year awarded to a  college or graduate student  who demonstrates a commitment to a career in broadcast journalism. The award can be renewed for up to three years. (Deadline: Feb. 18) The   Lewis Scholarship  provides housing and a monthly stipend to support  college student journalists of color  with newsroom internships in Washington, D.C. The Emerson Coleman Fellowship (ECF) Program

  PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Emerson Coleman Fellowship (ECF) is designed to provide a real-world experience in television programming and production. The goal is to increase the diversity and representation of individuals pursuing careers in broadcasting. The program will launch in May 2024. Among the industry’s most highly regarded programming executives, Emerson Coleman most recently served as senior vice president of Programming for Hearst Television, where he oversaw the company’s program development and acquisitions for over two decades. He is passionate about passing on what he has learned to another generation. This fellowship will honor Coleman’s legacy by offering opportunities to another generation to share impactful stories and elevate new voices.
