Blue Chalk Black Filmmaker Fellowship

Blue Chalk Media is a nonfiction production company based in Portland, OR & Brooklyn, NY. We are continuing our efforts to bring more diverse voices to our team across the board. For this opening, we are seeking talented Black filmmakers to join our team for a summer fellowship from June to August 2022 for 10-12 weeks. The start date is flexible and dependent on the availability of the chosen candidate. Ideally, the winning candidate would be open to spending the summer in-person with our team in Portland but remote is also a possibility.

 

The job will require:

• Assisting the producers, editors and DPs in all aspects of their responsibilities. 
• Facilitating research and helping to develop creative concepts.
• Supporting the team by coordinating logistics, organizing releases, and other miscellaneous production needs.
• Collaborating with a team of creators to develop a creative concept into an achievable goal.
• Searching for stock footage, production music, and other archival elements as required by the creative.

 

Qualifications: 

The candidate must be... 

• Currently a student or recent graduate as of May 2022.
• Meticulous, organized, and creative.
• Interested in developing their skills and contributing to a fast-paced team.

• Capable of working quickly as part of a fast-paced team. 
• Able to think visually and write to support graphics and other visuals. 
• Able to organizationally and creatively support a small film crew. 
• Extremely organized and personable.
• Someone with a good sense of humor and curiosity about the world.
• Kind, hard-working, and able to go with the flow.
