2022 Atlanta Press Club Journalism Internships
Thanks to Acuity Brands and our annual sponsors, the Atlanta Press Club is able to provide internships for college students. Writing samples and a letter of recommendation are required.
APC pairs interns with many of Atlanta’s top news organizations, where they receive hands-on experience in writing and reporting. Our 2021 call for applications yielded 43 submissions from talented students at Georgia universities and beyond. We received applications from more than a dozen colleges and universities.
We are proud to partner with several news organizations but cannot guarantee the same publications or outlets will participate each year. In 2021, for example, we paired students with top editors at
- The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
- Atlanta magazine
- Atlanta Civic Circle
- Georgia Public Broadcasting
- WABE
Our journalism interns* receive hands-on work experience and a standard stipend (see application for more details). Internships will occur between June 6-August 13, 2022 (dates may vary by outlet). The Atlanta Press Club is not responsible for additional financial supplements provided by individual participating outlets (if applicable). Due to COVID-19, 2022 summer internships may be a hybrid of virtual and in-person hours.
When applying to the 2022 Atlanta Press Club Journalism Internship program, you will be considered automatically for the Rebecca Burns Summer Journalism Internship, sponsored by The Red & Black. This internship has been created in honor of 2021 Atlanta Press Club Hall of Fame inductee Rebecca Burns. The selected intern will be placed with one of our participating news outlets. This internship will occur between June 6-August 13, 2022, includes the standard stipend, and may have a focus on feature writing. Priority consideration is given to first-generation college students (if applicable). This internship does not take place at The Red & Black and is not affiliated with the University of Georgia.
