Location: Silver Spring, MD or remote

What We Need
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, ("Foundation"), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is a leading voice for U.S. protected waters, is seeking a Multimedia Communications Coordinator who will serve as a key member of its media and communications operation. The coordinator is responsible for executing several technical facets of communications strategy, with an emphasis on creating engaging visual media and digital communications. These duties will include video content, web presence, multimedia, photo management, materials development, marketing communications, and brand management. A major project will be managing the transition to a newly redesigned web site. The coordinator will support the Director of Strategic Communications with ongoing projects related to program outreach, campaign messaging, and strategic partnerships. The ideal candidate possesses excellent technical skills, a willingness to learn new abilities related to job functions, and the creativity to share the Foundation’s message in new and innovative ways using several forms of media. Attention to detail and organizational skills are critical, along with the ability to stay on message and establish metrics to measure project effectiveness.
The Foundation works with communities to conserve and expand those special places for a healthy ocean, coasts, and Great Lakes. We increase awareness of, and support for, national marine sanctuaries and marine national monuments and their vital role in ensuring a healthy ocean. The Foundation works in close partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to increase stewardship of our ocean and Great Lakes through on-the- water conservation projects, and education and public outreach activities, and by support for research. What You’ll Do
Responsibilities:
- Create and edit original video content to further Foundation messaging, with emphasis on growing followership and engagement.
- Website development and maintenance, including publishing content, maintaining continuity of themes, designing layout, streamlining navigation, addressing accessibility gaps, and improving our overall online presence. This would include a lead role in transitioning to a newly designed website.
- Manage the Foundation’s photo and video collections.
- Assist with the development of materials including one-pagers, infographics, toolkits, and reports that effectively convey Foundation messaging.
- Maintain branding standards across Foundation communications products.
- Support major Foundation events, including Capitol Hill Ocean Week, the Ocean Awards Gala, and the Blue Beacon Series, with communications products and on-site assistance.
- Promote the Foundation’s Conservation and Policy work through project-specific communications planning and execution and support fundraising initiatives of the Development department.
- Represent the Foundation in working with partner agencies and organizations, including NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries, on collaborative communications and outreach efforts.
Who You Are
Qualifications:
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree and one to three years of relevant experience.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- The job requires creativity and artistic ability to manage the daily workload and create appealing content.
- Video and photo editing skills are essential, including the use of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.
- Experience with website editing and publishing through WordPress.
- Ability to work on multiple priority tasks concurrently.
- Attention to detail and the organizational skills to see complex projects through to completion.
- Skill and experience in working as a member of a team to complete diverse projects.
- Fluency in computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office/SharePoint/Teams)
Preferred:
- Knowledge of the goals, activities and programs of the Foundation and an interest and fluency in ocean and Great Lakes conservation issues.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and other programming languages for maintaining blogs and websites.
- Familiarity with marketing communications tools such as Mailchimp, Salesforce, Hootsuite, and Cision.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary $52,000-$56,000 based on experience. The Foundation offers a competitive benefits package.
Location: Our Foundation headquarters office is located in Silver Spring, MD, but remote work would be considered.
